Our clients in East Putney wanted a family home with space, a natural influx of light and a contemporary design with all the mod-cons that also retained the character and authenticity of a Victorian building.
Unable to find what they were looking for in their budget in Putney, they concluded the best approach would be to purchase a home with potential and transform it into their dream family home.
Like with any work to a home, engaging an architect is incredibly important to help you make the most of the spaces – bringing their expertise of planning policy, building regulations, local tradesmen and perhaps most importantly, vision, to guide you every step of the way on the journey to transforming your home.
Having worked in Putney for over ten years, PAD were delighted to come on board. As a local architect, we were able to bring extensive knowledge of the Wandsworth Council planning policy to ensure a successful planning application alongside our local tradesman knowledge. This means we’re able to provide a very clear budget cost and breakdown of works and timelines so that the client feels in control of the project every step of the way – and prevent any nasty costly surprises down the line!
Working with the client, we designed a complete refurbishment of the ground floor which included a rear extension with gorgeous window box seat offering not only additional light to the new dining area, but also created a cosy reading space filled with natural light. The expansive roof light over the kitchen floods the preparation area with natural light and makes the, fairly modest kitchen, feel incredibly spacious. The sliding folding doors to the garden allow for seamless indoor / outdoor living, perfect for a summers day and offering peace of mind to the parents who can enjoy cooking whilst keeping an eye on the younger family members playing outside.
The renovation continues upstairs with an extension at first floor creating a sumptuous master bedroom with en-suite and separate play room for the kids.
Our clients are happily settled into their dream Putney home now, loving the space and light it offers and making the most of that gorgeous garden.
